Wet, Windy, Wonderful

I spent a week with some photography friends on the Dingle Peninsula in southwest Ireland recently. Having arrived when the temperatures were in the ‘high teens’ (not bad for February), I was soon reminded of why the coastline is so green and rugged, with only the Atlantic Ocean between me and America!

It was also a real bonus being able to meet up with legendary Irish landscape photographer, John Hooton during the week. The Dingle Peninsula is John’s home territory and he’s happy to share his thoughts on some of the best locations in what’s now also known as the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’.

Most of the images I managed to capture were taken during brief spells between storms. Whilst the colours may have been muted by poor light, the challenging conditions made for some wonderfully dramatic skies, especially when the sun briefly struggled through. Here’s a selection of some images taken during the week.
